Hamburg Süd christened the “Santa Isabel” in Singapore this week, the second of 10 identical container vessels with a capacity of 7,100 TEU each.
This makes them not only the largest ships ever built for Hamburg Süd, but also, with their 1,600 reefer plugs apiece, the ships with the biggest reefer capacity currently available worldwide, the German company said in a statement.
Since her delivery at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) in Korea in December 2010, the Santa Isabel has been deployed in Hamburg Süd’s service between Asia and South Africa/South America East Coast (New Good Hope Express).
