China's government plans to invest US$228 billion or more in the aviation industry over the next five years, after investing $152 billion in the previous five-year period, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said.
The regulator said air passenger traffic is expected to reach 450 million according to the government's 12th five-year plan for 2011-2015, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
The regulator didn't provide a time frame in its statement, but the number likely refers to expected annual traffic by the end of 2015.
The regulator also said China's total aircraft fleet size will rise to 5,000 by 2015 from around 2,600.
