Mediterranean Shipping Co. plans to raise freight rates for cargo moving westbound from Italy, Spain, Portugal, the south of France and Israel to the U.S. as of April 1.
MSC said it is raising rates because of "growing demand for space and equipment."
The announcement comes a week after MSC posted rate increases on its eastbound trans-Atlantic trade.
The planned general rate increase, which applies to all dry and reefer cargo, is $200 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container.
