Hyundai Merchant Marine will join the Grand Alliance – Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, and OOCL – and partner Zim on two transpacific services to the U.S. East Coast.
In a statement, the Grand Alliance said a South China East Coast Express 2 (SCE2) service will be launched on May 12 and the existing South China East Coast Express (SCE) service will be revised, effective May 13, so the five carriers can offer a "comprehensive service network" for their respective customers.
The SCE will be enhanced with a direct westbound call in Miami. The new rotation will be Kaohsiung, Shekou, Hong Kong, Panama Canal, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Panama Canal, and Kaohsiung.
The SCE2 will connect Charleston and Savannah with Korea and Central and South China. The rotation is Pusan, Shanghai (Yangshan), Xiamen, Da Chan Bay, Hong Kong, Yantian, Panama Canal, Manzanillo, Kingston, Savannah, Charleston, Kingston, Manzanillo, Panama Canal, and Pusan.
