Hyundai Merchant Marine will raise rates southbound container shipments from the U.S. to the East Coast of South America effective Aug. 1.
HMM said the general rate increase is due to the “continued increasing cost of operation in both the U.S. and South America,”
The increase, which applies to both carrier- and shipper-owned containers, will cover all cargo moving from the U.S. to Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
The increases on dry containers are $240 per 20-foot container, $300 per 40-foot and 40-foot high cube containers.
The increase on reefers is $400 per 40-foot reefer.
