Maersk Line has changed the coverage area of one of its loop linking Asia and Africa, according to ComPair Data.
A number of calls on the carrier’s FEW3 service have been dropped as its rotation was shortened to only connect Southeast Asia and West Africa. The new rotation is Tanjung Pelepas, Point Noire, Onne, Lagos, Douala and Tanjung Pelepas.
Dropped are calls at Fuzhou, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Nansha and Durban, meaning it no longer services the China-Hong Kong trade to Africa.
The carrier has also trimmed the number of vessels operating on the service from 11 to nine and shortened roundtrip voyage time by two weeks. Average vessel size on the service is 2,525 TEUs.
Maersk and subsidiary line Safmarine operate two other services that link China/Hong Kong with West Africa -- the FEW1 and FEW2.
