In order to capitalise on the rising container shipping demand in India and Pakistan, Singapore-based container shipping line, Samudera Shipping Line together with its operating partner, has restructured its Nhava Sheva Karachi Express (NKX) services into two new loops, Nhava Sheva China Express (NCX) linking China and Nhava Sheva, and Karachi Pipavav Express (KPX) connecting Singapore with Pipavav and Karachi.
Four container vessels with the capacity of 2,500 TEUs each will be assigned to NCX, while another three similar ones will be serving KPX, to provide weekly frequency.
Samudera will be deploying one of its chartered vessels for each service.
Samudera had operated in China prior to 2009 but stopped its service due to low demand. This new initiative would allow Samudera to resume its vessel operator status in the China market.
In addition to ports in Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Group has also established a new network at Da Chan Bay in Shenzhen.
According to Da Chan Bay port authority, the port is expected to achieve container throughput capacity of 13 million TEUs and will become one of the top 10 ports by 2015.
