Evergreen Line, Wan Hai Line and Interasia Lines have announced the launch of a new weekly intra-Asia shipping service connecting Chennai port with Taiwan. The vessel will call on Chennai Container Terminal on Fridays and depart on Saturdays, reported The Hindu.
Called the Taiwan-Madras Trunk Service (TMT Service), the maiden vessel Karin Schulte left the port of Taichung on April 29 and will reach the Chennai Container Terminal on May 13.
About four vessels with a carrying capacity of 1,500 TEUs are deployed on the route. Wan Hai Line provides two vessels, while Evergreen and Interasia Lines one each.
The TMT service is operating on the following port rotation on a 28-days cycle: Taichung, Keelung, Hong Kong, Hong Kong (midstream), Nansha, Shekou, Port Kelang, Chennai, Penang, Port Kelang, Singapore, Yantian, Hong Kong and Taichung.
