Hapag-Lloyd said it will omit the next three ship calls on its GS1 service between the U.S. Gulf and East Coast of South America because high water on the Mississippi River has reduced clearance under bridges.
The carrier said it will skip New Orleans calls that had been scheduled for June 9 by the E.R. Kobe, June 16 by the CSAV Houston and June 23 by the Montevideo Express.
Hapag-Lloyd said import containers would be relayed via Altamira, Mexico, on other Hapag-Lloyd services into New Orleans. The ship Laurita Rickmers has been scheduled for two round trips between Caucedo, Dominican Republic, and New Orleans to handle import and export boxes.
Calls by the service at New Orleans are expected to resume June 30, the carrier said.
