Mediterranean Shipping Co. is raising its freight rates on all export containers shipped from Portugal to the U.S. as of July 7.
MSC said the general rate increase is necessary to meet the “continuous raise of fuel, port costs and chartering.”
The increase is the latest in a series of rate increases in both directions on the trans-Atlantic that the Geneva-based carrier has announced since the beginning of the year.
The planned increases are $200 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container.
