The volume of containers transported by CSAV in September rose 2.2 percent from August, but dropped by 18.8 percent from a year earlier.
In the same month, the Chilean carrier’s index of revenues per 20-foot equivalent container units dropped by 12.6 percent from August and by 12.3 percent from September 2010.
CSAV transported 242,900 TEUs in September. During that month its index of average revenues rates per TEU dropped to $1,644.7 from $1,609 in August. Its index of average revenues was $2,025 in September 2010. CSAV’s revenue index hit a low for the year to date of $1,520.9 in May.
CSAV, which lost $525 million in the first half of 2011, has been is trying to raise capital while seeking a “strategic partner” for its container shipping business.
