Seago Line, the intra-Europe specialist carrier of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, said it plans to raise rates on reefer shipments from Egypt to destinations in Europe from November through May.
“In response to rising costs associated with serving this segment, as well as financially unsustainable rate levels, Seago Line will be applying rate increases throughout the upcoming reefer season from Egypt,” the line said.
“The rate increases will be following a restoration program with planned increases from November to May to lift the rates to a sustainable level that will allow Seago Line to reliably serve this important sector of the Egyptian export market.”
Seago said it will charge a minimum rate level for shipments of citrus and potatoes of $2,200 per box from Egypt to Northern Europe, $2,100 to the Black Sea, and $1,600 to the Adriatic.
