Container throughput at Germany's Hamburg port increased by 15.3 percent on the year to 6.8 million (TEUs) in the first nine months of 2011, marketing organisation Hafen Hamburg Marketing said.
The port is currently experiencing strong improvements in trade with China as well as in the traffic to central and eastern Europe. China is the port's biggest partner and generates one-third of the container throughput at the port.
Hamburg port is seen posting container throughput of nine million TEUs in 2011, the marketing organisation said.
