Middle East carrier United Arab Shipping imposed a two-phase general rate increase on trades from Asia to the U.S. East Coast.
The carrier said rates on dry cargo will go up by $240 per 20-foot container, $300 per 40-foot container, and $340 per 40-foot high cube container, starting March 15, followed by another GRI of $560, $700, and $750, respectively, effective May 1.
UASC also issued a GRI notice on cargo shipped from Asia to destinations in the Persian Gulf region. The planned increase of $500 per TEU will take effect March 1 and remain in force until March 31.
