Maersk has continued its global round of freight rate hikes by boosting levies on its services into the U.S.
A general rate increase of $400 per 20-foot equivalent unit container will be applied on Far East Asia-to-U.S. West Coast services, starting May 1. A GRI of $500 will be applied to 40-foot containers, rising to $565 and $630 for 40-foot-high cube for 45-foot-high cube boxes, respectively.
At the same time, a sliding scale of GRI will be applied to cargo moving from Far East Asia to the East Coast of the U.S. This will be applied as $560 per TEU, $700 per FEU, $790 per 40-foot-high cube and $885 per 45-foot-high cube container.
