South Korea's air cargo traffic decreased 1.4 per cent in the first six months of this year compared to the same half year in 2011.
Air cargo traffic stood at about 1.72 million tons, down from 1.74 million tons a year before, mainly driven by a decrease in international air cargo volumes - down two per cent to 1.57 million tons - while domestic air cargo gained 5.9 per cent to 143,000 tons.
The government has predicted air cargo traffic will shrink further in the second half of the year, partly due to a slump in global demand for IT products amid global economic gloom.
