China’s two major shipping lines said they will jointly run a domestic container service starting this month, the first time the companies have cooperated on such a service.
COSCO Container Lines and China Shipping said the service will link northeast China with Fujian in southeast China and Shantou in south China’s Guangdong province.
The two carriers are the fourth and ninth largest container lines in the world by fleet size, according to the maritime analyst Alphaliner. Both are heavily involved in China’s domestic container trade.
