Lufthansa Cargo’s winter schedule will see a major increase in freighter capacity between Europe and the Middle East.
The carrier said its new schedule starting next week would offer flights to 300 destinations in 97 countries, including freighter services into 49 destinations worldwide.
A new four times weekly service to Tel Aviv will see the deployment of MD-11 freighters, while freighter flights to Cairo from Frankfurt will be increased to thrice weekly after only being reinstated in March.
However, services to Chongqing, a growing manufacturing hub in central China that was only included in Lufthansa Cargo’s route network for the first time last March, will be discontinued. Dr. Andreas Otto, member of the Lufthansa Cargo executive board, product and sales, admitted current market conditions are “not easy.”
He added, “The new freighter flights to Tel Aviv and Istanbul as well as increased frequencies on our route to Cairo will enable us to further strengthen our presence in growth markets in the Middle East.”
