TAIWAN's Evergreen Line, the world's fifth largest carrier, has announced it will collaborate with Marseille-based CMA CGM, the world's third largest carrier, to launch a new weekly South Red Sea SRS2 loop linking southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Red Sea from May.
Five 2,200-TEU vessels will be deployed on the SRS2 string, with three ships provided by Evergreen and two units from CMA CGM. The first sailing is slated to depart from Tanjung Pelepas on May 2, calling at Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Djibouti, Aden, Jeddah, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Colombo, Port Klang and back to Tanjung Pelepas.
Offering a connection to Ethiopia via Djibouti, Evergreen said: "The new SRS2 service will enable Evergreen Line to further expand its port coverage in the East African market following the inauguration of the line's Indian Subcontinent, Mauritius, Mozambique Africa (IMMA) Service launched earlier this month."
