Westwood Shipping Lines is entering the refrigerated container cargo market with the launch of its new fortnightly reefer service connecting the Pacific Northwest, including the container yards at Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia, with the ports of Tomakomai, Japan, and Busan, South Korea.
The first sailing of the new service is the Westwood Cascade, voyage 22W. Initially, Westwood Shipping Lines will only accept frozen and chilled cargo to Tomakomai and Busan, but the ocean carrier plans to accept the full range of commodities “soon” on its WSL Service 2 rotation.
The carrier has acquired 40-foot high-cube reefer containers for the service.
