Five container lines cooperating on a joint service linking Asia and Australia plan to revise the port rotation of the service to incorporate a direct call at Qingdao, China.
The carriers — Evergreen, “K” Line, MOL, NYK and OOCL — say the changes also will shorten transit times from the Chinese ports of Shanghai and Ningbo to Australia.
The new port rotation will be as follows: Yokohama and Osaka, Japan; Pusan, South Korea; Qingdao; Shanghai; Ningbo; Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, Australia; and back to Yokohama.
The first vessel operating on the new rotation will be the OOCL Nagoya, calling at Yokohama on Aug. 4.
Evergreen Line also is adding a new Sino Australia Service through a slot-charter arrangement with Cosco. The port rotation of that service will be Ningbo, Shanghai, Xiamen and Shekou, China; Hong Kong; Sydney, Melbourne; Brisbane; and back to Ningbo.
