DPWorld wins US$134m deal to upgrade and operate Senegal terminal

6/13/2007 2:54:25 PM

DUBAI port operator DPWorld has been awarded a concession to develop and operate the existing container terminal in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, according to Agence-France Presse.

The United Arab Emirates' port operator will develop civil infrastructure and equipment in the current Terminal a Conteneur in a EUR100 million (US$134 million) plus deal, said AFP, quoting the company.

Under the deal, the terminal's capacity is expected to more than double annual capacity from the existing 250,000 TEU by 2010.

At the same time, DPWorld will also spend EUR300 million to design, finance, construct and manage a new container terminal, Port du Futur, which will have a potential annual capacity of 1.5 million TEU and to be operational in 2011.
