Spanair increases frequencies on the new routes connecting Madrid and Barcelona with Algiers

9/14/2007 11:46:29 AM

From the beginning of October, the Company will operate three more return flights on the routes connecting the two main Spanish business centres with Algeria's capital city.

Due to the success rate of the new routes connecting Madrid and Barcelona with Algiers, Spanair increases its flights to and from Spain's capital city, and to and from Barcelona, adding to the two weekly return flights started by the Company in July. Three months later, after the commencement of theses routes, Spanair increases the number of flights in response to the increasing demand of the business traffic.

The Madrid - Algiers route has several connection possibilities with Spanair's domestic flights to and from cities such as: Málaga, Barcelona, Bilbao, La Coruña, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia, as well as international connections to Frankfurt and Stockholm. Likewise, the Barcelona - Algiers route allows an easy connection to and from cities such as Málaga, La Coruña, Oviedo and Palma de Mallorca, as well as international connections to Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Zurich and Munich.

Moreover, both routes guarantee, via Madrid and Barcelona, a large number of connections with the international network of the Star Alliance member carriers.

"The development of our network towards North Africa is an opportunity that allows us to strengthen our international flights", states Lars Nygaard, CEO of Spanair, who adds, "Likewise, the operation of Spanair flights to North Africa has made us a connection point for the Star Alliance Network, at a moment of accelerated market growth in this region".
