Wizz Air, the largest low cost low fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced that it would launch a new service between Italy and the Czech Republic. Flights from Prague to Venice/Treviso will be launched on 20 September and operated 3 times a week. The new services will complement the already announced routes operated from the Ruzyne Airport to 15 in total.
Wizz Air carried over 6,5 million passengers in the last 12 months. The airline's fleet is currently consisting of 25 Airbus A320 aircraft operating from 10 bases in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine. The 11th base will be opened in Prague on 27 June 2009.
