Construction of the My Phuoc-Tan Van expressway, a key transport project in the southern province of Binh Duong, started this week, Thai News Service reported.
The expressway is being built by Becamex IDC Corporation at a cost of US$196.6 million. The province contributed $95.5 million to clear land for the project.
The province's People's Committee chairman, Nguyen Hoang Son, said construction would bring opportunities for sustainable development. The expressway would also help attract more investment in the province and change its appearance, he said.
The 30km expressway links industrial zones in Ben Cat, Thuan An and Di An communes; Thu Dau Mot town; Dong Nai and Binh Duong to Ho Chi Minh City container port and Long Thanh international port. Opening is scheduled for 2013.
