Emirates profit surges

Dubai-based Emirates Airline says its profit for the six months through September almost tripled to 752 million dirhams (US$204.9 million) from 284 million dirhams (US$77.4 million) during the same period in 2008, thanks to cost-cutting measures and lower fuel prices. Revenue was down almost 14 per cent to 19.8 billion dirhams (US$ 5.4 billion) because of lower ticket prices and freight costs.   Aircargo Asia Pacific
