CAL and EVA see revenues hit new highs

11/23/2009 10:11:48 AM

The cargo-shipment peak season and recovering economy have helped China Airlines (CAL) and EVA Airways to set new highs in October revenues this year, Taiwan Economic news reported.

CAL said cargo-shipment services accounted for 46 percent of its total revenues in October, compared to only 35 percent on average in the first 10 months, and that for EVA surged to 41 percent in October from only 31 percent in the first 10 months.

The strong growth in the cargo-shipment’s contribution to revenues show both airlines will definitely continue to deliver more of such service in the fourth quarter of this year.

CAL posted US$299.75 million at in October sales, the highest since November last year and down 6.65 percent year-on-year from $321.11 million. The company scored $2.47 billion in cumulative sales in the first 10 months of this year, down 25.34 percent year-on-year.
