DHL has started a direct flight from Hong Kong to Surabaya in Indonesia, significantly enhancing connectivity, service reliability and on-time performance for customers in the East Java, Hong Kong, North Asia and US.
Operating four times a week, the new flight will carry freight not only from Hong Kong, but also from North Asia and US origins.
Shipment volumes on DHL's Hong Kong - Surabaya routes have been increasing, and DHL recorded an 18% growth between July and November 2009. Major shipments were from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
The direct flight from Hong Kong International Airport to Djuanda Airport in Surabaya cuts transit time to within 24 hours by eliminating the need for clearance in Jakarta followed by domestic transportation to Surabaya.
