Vietnam Airlines resumes Ho Chi Minh-Nagoya flights

8/16/2010 9:59:51 AM

Vietnam Airlines has resumed service on the Ho Chi Minh City-Nagoya route after more than two years of suspension, Dow Jones Newswires reported.

The carrier is operating two flights a week on the route using Airbus A321 planes.

This will be the eighth commercial air route between Vietnamese and Japanese cities that Vietnam Airlines operate.

"We hope the new route will help boost trade, investment and tourism ties between the two countries," said Trinh Hong Quang, deputy director of Vietnam Airlines.

The airline started services on the route in July 2005, but had to suspend it in December 2007 when the global economic crisis started to hit Japan's economy.
