Royal Jordanian to resume operations to Tripoli

11/21/2011 10:00:33 AM

Royal Jordanian will resume its regular direct operations from Amman to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, starting November 24, 2011. The airline has five flights a week to Tripoli.

RJ President/CEO Hussein Dabbas said that the company's decision to restart operating flights to Tripoli comes two months after its resumption of flights to Benghazi, which started on September 15, 2011. RJ suspended all its flights to Tripoli and Benghazi due to the events witnessed by Libya starting with February.

Dabbas said the decision came after RJ got all the necessary approvals from the concerned Libyan authorities, and the announcement that Tripoli International Airport is ready to receive flights normally.

The flights to Tripoli at a first stage, are on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The plane leaves Amman at 11:00 and reaches Tripoli at 15:05; it leaves Tripoli at 16:10 and reaches Amman at 19:30 local time.

Dabbas said that the first flight on November 24 will leave three hours earlier – at 8:00 – but will return from Tripoli according to the original mentioned time.

He stressed the importance of re-linking Amman with Tripoli and Benghazi through regular operations.

Royal Jordanian is currently operating three weekly flights to Benghazi; the company used to operate two weekly flights to Benghazi and five weekly flights to Tripoli before suspending its operation to Libya last February.
