A SPECIALLY equipped UTair An-2 aircraft has been flown "ocean to ocean" on an intercontinental flight from the Plekhanovo airfield in Tyumen Siberia to Cape Town International Airport in South Africa along a route from Mys-Kamennyy on the shores of the Arctic Ocean.

The aircraft landed safely in Cape Town on February 20 after departing on December 5 from the Russian settlement in Siberia.

The An-2 aircraft covered 20,000 kilometres, a flight unmatched in terms of distance and duration for this type of aircraft. The plane flew over 15 countries: Russia, the Ukraine, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Spain, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Angola, Namibia and South Africa.
