NYK to merge Japan logistics subsidiaries

NYK will consolidate its two Japan logistics subsidiaries, JIT Corp and NYK Logistics Japan, on October 1, 2007. The merged company will trade under the name of NYK Logistics Japan Co Ltd, and will remain headquartered in Tokyo. Founded in 1983 as an NVOCC, JIT Corp achieved sales of approximately ¥12.46 billion in 2005. NYK Logistics Japan was founded in 2004 to provide 3PL services by linking the services offered by NYK Group logistics companies around the world. The company reported sales of ¥2.04 billion in 2005. This merger will enable the two companies to combine NYK Logistics Japan's expertise in supply chain solutions with the long-term customer relationships established by JIT, giving the merged company the capacity to offer competitive and more customer-centric services.
