DHL is to invest almost US$6.5 million in two new service centres and two courier depots in Vietnam, as well as the expansion of the DHL-VNPT Express vehicle fleet.
The expansion is part of the US$14 million investment program announced in November last year.
The two new service centres will be built in Dong Nai (covering the Dong Nai and Binh Duong areas) and Ha Noi. The two courier depots will be in Da Nang and Hai Phong.
According to Scott Price, CEO of DHL Express - Asia Pacific, these investments span the three major regions of Vietnam – the north, the south and the centre.
Price was speaking at the official inauguration of the DHL-VNPT Express joint venture in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Tim Baxter, newly appointed general director of DHL-VNPT Express, Vietnam is one of DHL’s fastest growing countries, recording growth in excess of 20% every year and commanding a market share of more than 40%.
DHL’s infrastructure covers 23 locations across Vietnam.
“With these new investments under our joint venture, we are able to consistently provide faster transit for our customers in Vietnam and offer expanded connectivity to DHL’s global network of more than 220 countries and territories,” said Baxter.
