New service begins between Antwerp and Finnish port

11/18/2008 10:16:33 AM

Finnish shipping line Merilinja Oy has started a new container service between Antwerp and Kollola, a port in western Finland.

The first vessel in the service, the 366-TEU MS Baltic Sea, was the first ship to call at Antwerp. The vessel will call three times per month, with an average round-trip time of 10 days.

"The new container operation will among others serve the needs of the mining industry and producers of consumer goods," said Dick Fraser, the European representative of the Port of Kollola.
