Ukrainian ports overloaded

12/3/2008 10:25:17 AM

Consignees are refusing to take out cargo from Ukrainian ports, and if the trend does not change in two weeks ports may terminate transhipment as there will be no place to unload containers, the Ukrainian National News Agency reported.

Illichivsk and Odesa ports have claimed that their container terminals are loaded with unclaimed freights.

According to Odesa port if the situation does not change than in 10 to 15 days the port will not be able to receive cargo as there will be no place in the terminals.

The load of port capacities is explained by the financial crisis: having ordered the consignments several months ago, the companies no longer have funds for payment.
