K-Line and Pacific International Lines (PIL) have announced that they will restructure their joint weekly service from Asia to South Africa from early-March 2009.
Their current joint service with MISC Berhad will be dissolved at the same time.
The weekly service will be restructured with seven 3,300 - 3,800 TEU vessels, five from K-Line and two from PIL.
The port rotation will be: Shanghai > Ningbo > Kaohsiung > Shekou > Hong Kong > Singapore > Port Kelang > Durban > Cape Town > Port Kelang > Singapore > Hong Kong > Shanghai.
In response to customer demand, Evergreen will make Savannah the first inbound port on its Asia-US East Coast (AUE) service, from the beginning of February 2009.
Starting with the 4,211 TEU vessel Ever Diadem, departing on January 10th from Yantian port, the weekly port rotation will be: Yantian> Hong Kong > Kaohsiung > Colon > Savannah > New York > Baltimore > Colon >Yantian.
This adjustment will cut transit times inbound from the Far East by six days, for a 25-day transit time from Yantian to Savannah.
