United Arab Shipping Co. said it will temporarily combine two services between Asia and Europe into a single string.
The announcement comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that UASC and Hanjin would combine two other services into a single string.
UASC said the combination of the AEC1 and AEC2 services into AEC1 will remain in place until the third quarter of 2009, following which the carrier will re-start both its former AEC1 and AEC2 services.
The former AEC1 service covered Asia, the Arabian Gulf, the Indian Subcontinent, North Europe, the Red Sea, and Asia, and deployed 10 4,000 TEU vessels, while the AEC2 connected Asia, North Europe, the Red Sea, the Arabian Gulf, and Asia, and deployed nine 6,900 TEU vessels.
The newly combined AEC1 service will deploy 10 UASC vessels: nine 6,900 TEU ships and one 4,250 TEU ship. Feeder services will connect with the Indian Subcontinent.
The port rotation for the combined AEC1 Service includes Busan, Kaohsiung, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Khor Fakhan, Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Med Hub, Rotterdam, Thamesport, Hamburg, Antwerp, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Khor Fakhan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Busan.
