From 1st of January all wooden packaging must be marked according to FAOs international standard ISPM 15. To get this marking the wood muct have undergone a warming treatment of minimum 56 degrees. The marking should be a ISO country code, a code from the producer and a code for the treatment of the wood.
The purpose of these new rules is to prevent introduction of new creatures that can damage the Norwegian woods.
The Norwegian Food and nutrition Supervision will supervise the new rules closely, and any non approved wooden material will be either returned to its original country, sent to a producer for treatment or burned.
