Deutsche Post subsidiary DHL has won the contract to run the UK’s 2012 Olympics Logistics Centre in London after the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) invited seven companies to submit proposals at the start of the year.
The primary function of the logistics centre will be to manage deliveries for the Olympic Park off-site, allowing the ODA to stagger deliveries to the Park to reduce congestion. ODA chief executive David Higgins said: "Moving materials to the Olympic Park is critical to the success of the project. This contract will ensure we do this efficiently and effectively, and in a way which will help avoid congestion in the local area."
