Maersk Line said a general rate increase on the North America to Mediterranean and North Africa trade scheduled to implement June 15 would instead be effective July 1.
The change is in order to have the rate increase coincide with the change in bunker adjustment factor, also scheduled for July 1.
The increase -- $120 on 20-foot dry containers and $200 on 40-foot high-cube and 45-foot containers -- reflects "market developments that have created equipment shortages in some regions and delays onshore, as well as the tightening of available ocean capacity."
