Maersk Line has announced a general rate increase of $300 per container on cargo moving from the Mediterranean and North Africa to the United States and Canada.
The increase is for both dry and reefer cargo and will take effect Oct. 1.
"Trading conditions for the carriers operating in these markets are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable in the longer term. The rate increase is necessary to continue to operate our services with the high level of reliability our customers have come to expect," the carrier said.
