Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) has increased its ship calls to the Tartous International Container Terminal (TICT) - ICTSI's container handling facility in Syria.
Early this year, MSC started calling at TICT as an alternative to the Port of Lattakia, the country's main port, citing Lattakia's increasing cargo congestion and high port and labour fees as reasons for the move to TICT.
TICT is the nearest port to the country's capital and economic centre of Damascus. Recent productivity at the TICT is reported to be eighteen moves per hour per crane using two mobile harbour cranes.
This year, MSC and another new caller, Russia's has joined.
TICT's growing client portfolio includes CMA CGM, Maersk Line, Safmarine, EMES, Hamburg Süd, Sermar Line, CSAV Norasia, Transcontainer Shipping Line and MSC.
