Phú Mỹ bridge’s two-side-span connection has been completed and airdraft opened up to 43m effective on June 8, 2009. This allows all vessels to sail freely in and out of VICT. The opening of Phú Mỹ bridge would be beneficial most to the manufacturers located in Thủ Đức, Đồng Nai and Bình Dương provinces when cargo can be transported directly to VICT through the bridge instead of going through the inner city. Not only trucking costs but also transit time could be saved to a great extent.
At VICT, 192m new wharf with two brand new Gantry Cranes, which were officially operational in May, have aggregated VICT’s wharf length to 678m with seven Gantry Cranes for four berths. Besides, ten pieces of brand new RTGs, operational in January 2009 enable VICT to not only increase quayside productivity but also reduce gate turn time and improve CY yard stuffing/unstuffig services. Currently, the gate turn time is down to 30 minutes or less for both container in-gate and out-gate.
