MOL in January will increase ocean freight rates in two phases for all refrigerated cargo exported from the United States and Canada to Asia, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.
The general rate increase is meant to offset the slide in rates throughout the past year even as operating costs increased, MOL said..
Effective Jan. 15, the GRI will be $200 per 20-foot reefer container and $250 per 40-foot HC reefer container from the U.S. West Coast and from Mexico through the United States. The GRI will be $240 per 20-foot reefer and $300 per 40-foot HC from intermodal and U.S. East Coast all-water shipments to Asia, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.
