Hapag-Lloyd has announced a general rate increase for cargo moving from North America to East Asia, Indian Subcontinent and Middle East, effective April 1:
• From Canada to East Asia, dry cargo container rates will increase $160 on 20-foot containers and $200 on 40-foot containers. Reefer rates will go up $200 on 20-foot containers and $300 on 40-foot containers moving from Vancouver and Halifax; and $400 on 20-foot containers and $500 on 40-foot containers carrying reefer cargo from Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg and IPI points.
• From the United States and Canada to the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East, dry cargo container rates will increase $240 on 20-foot containers and $300 on 40-foot containers. For reefer cargo the increase will be $400 on 20-foot containers and $500 on 40-foot containers.
• From the United States to East Asia, dry cargo container rates will increase $240 on 20-foot containers and $300 on 40-foot containers. Reefer cargo will increase $240 on 20-foot containers and $300 on 40-foot containers for cargo originating locally in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland and Seattle, and $400 on 20-foot containers and $500 on 40-foot containers for cargo from other locations.
