CMA CGM took delivery of two new post-Panamax vessels in South Korean shipyards, the 6,500-TEU CMA CGM Lamartine and the 11,400-TEU CMA CGM Callisto.

Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction shipyards built the two ships.

The CMA CGM Lamartine will sail on the Mediterranean Express service from Asia to the Mediterranean.

The ship’s rotation will be as follows: Yokohama, Kobe, Pusan, Kwanyang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Port Kelang, Beirut, Malta, Valencia, Barcelona, Fos, Genoa, Naples, Malta, Damietta, Khorfakkan, Port Kelang, Chiwan, Yokohama.

The CMA CGM Callisto is the third of a series of 12 vessels of 11,400 TEU ordered by CMA CGM.

The other vessels in the series will be delivered between 2010 and 2011. The vessel has impressive dimensions of 360 meter long (1,181 feet), 45 meters wide (148 feet) and a draft of 15.5 meters (51 feet). It is equipped with technology designed to reduce its environmental impact.

The CMA CGM Callisto will be deployed on the French Asia Line service operated between Asia and North Europe.

It started its rotation on July 3 in Ningbo before calling Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Kelang, Le Havre, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Kelang and Singapore.

CMA CGM said the two new vessels will enable it to support the strong demand on the Asia-North Europe and Asia-Mediterranean trades.
