CMA CGM has announced a series of rate hikes across its global liner network and confirmed a peak season surcharge on the Asia-North Europe route.
The French ocean carrier said the rate increases, ranging from $250 to $500 per 20-foot container, were part of a revenue restoration program in response to the "strong rebound of volumes and capacity shortages on major trades."
Rates from Northwest India and Pakistan to Europe and the Mediterranean will rise by $250 per 20-foot dry container and $400 per 40-foot dry and 40-foot high cube boxes on July 14.
On July 20 rates from Asia to the Caribbean, excluding the French West Indies and Guyana, will increase by $500 per TEU and $775 per 40 FEU.
CMA CGM will charge an additional $250 to transport all types of 20-foot containers from Asia to West Africa from Aug. 1.
From North Europe to the Caribbean (excluding the French West Indies and Guyana), Central America and West Coast South America, shippers will be billed $190 extra for all types of 20-foot boxes.
On July 15, CMA CGM will impose a peak season surcharge of $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU and 40-foot high cube box from South and East India to Europe and the Mediterranean.
The carrier also confirmed the implementation Aug. 1 of a peak season surcharge of $200 per TEU between Asia and North Europe including the Baltic, Russia and the UK.
