CMA CGM has christened the latest in a series of super-large container ships, the CMA CGM Pegasus, in ceremonies at the Malta Freeport Terminal in the Port of Marsaxlokk.
The CMA CGM Pegasus, which has a capacity of 11,400 20-foot equivalent container units, is the largest containership to fly the Maltese flag and the seventh vessel the French shipping line has registered under the country’s flag.
Like its sister ships in the 10,000-TEU series, the CMA CGM Pegasus will be deployed on the line’s FAL-5 service from Asia to Europe.
CMA CGM owns and operates the Malta Freeport Terminal, where the ship was christened. With 10 ocean and 15 feeder services, up to 35 CMA CGM vessels call at Malta every week, making it the line’s main hub in the Western Mediterranean.
