The Port of Charleston received its first ship in a joint service between North Europe, the U.S. Gulf and Mexico with the visit of CSAV’s Box Voyager.
The vessel is part of the upgraded New Victory Bridge service, which French carrier CMA CGM, in partnership with Chile-based CSAV, has launched with five vessels of 3,000 20-foot equivalent container units each.
The weekly New Victory Bridge service, known to CSAV clients as the South Atlantic U.S. – Mexico Express (SAMEX) Service, boasts the shortest transit time between North Europe and the U.S. South Atlantic.
Charleston is the first U.S. port inbound, providing South Carolina-based shippers access to key North Europe markets.
The rotation of the New Victory Bridge service will be: Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Charleston, Miami, Vera Cruz, Altamira, Houston, Miami and back to Le Havre.
CMA CGM said the new service will provide the shortest transit times on the market both eastbound and westbound between North Europe and Mexico.
The transit between Altamira in Mexico and Antwerp will take 16 days, compared to 21 previously. The trip between North Europe and U.S. South Atlantic will take nine days, both for the voyage from Bremerhaven to Charleston and from Miami to Le Havre.
