SCI to Launch India-Africa Service

11/23/2010 10:22:26 AM

The state-owned Shipping Corporation of India will launch a container service between the Indian subcontinent and East Africa, starting at the end of November.

The ISEAFR Service will operate with three vessels of 1,200 20-foot equivalent units capacity, offering a 10-day frequency.

The port rotation is Colombo, Dar es Salaam, Mombasa and back to Colombo.

The first vessel sailing from Colombo is scheduled for Nov. 27.

The trade moving to and from India is expected to benefit from the new service through dedicated feeder connections over Colombo.
